Sensible is excited to announce native support for Excel sheets and workbooks. Excel files join Sensible’s expanding lineup of supported file types, including PDF, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, and most recently Word documents.

Excel files are ubiquitous in operations-heavy industries, like manufacturing, retail, finance, billing, and real estate, but can be difficult to systematically extract data from due to their formatting and variability. With Sensible’s expanded file type support, users can automate structured data extraction from Excel spreadsheets and eliminate the need for manual data extraction tasks, saving time while maintaining high levels of accuracy.

How it works

Send your .xlsx files to any Sensible API endpoint, or upload them directly to the Sensible app. Sensible uses metadata from the .xlsx files to rescale each sheet onto one widened page that captures all the columns on that sheet. Sensible then splits long sheets into multiple pages.

Similarly, Sensible will split workbooks with multiple sheets into multiple pages and add the sheet title to the top of each page as appropriate. You can then use our portfolios feature to process each sheet as an independent document.

We’d love to hear your feedback on the Excel file extraction experience at hello@sensible.so.
