Today, we're excited to announce Human Review, a new feature that makes it easy to add manual inspection to your document extraction process. With Human Review, you can quickly review a subset (or all) of your documents right from the Sensible dashboard, providing an extra layer of accuracy when you need it most.
When Automation Needs a Human Touch
Automated document processing has transformed how businesses handle information, but it's not without its challenges. Hard-to-read handwriting, complex layouts, or unusual document formats can sometimes lead to extraction errors. These inaccuracies can cause downstream issues in your workflows, leading to costly mistakes or delays.
Human Review bridges the gap between automation and accuracy. It allows you to automatically flag extractions that need manual review, efficiently correct them in a user-friendly interface, and ensure only high-quality data moves forward in your processes.
How Human Review Works
At its core, Human Review is about giving you control over your extraction quality. You start by setting your review criteria in the document type settings. This is where you decide what triggers a review - it could be when extraction coverage falls below a certain threshold, when there are validation errors or warnings, or specific validation rules.
Once an extraction is flagged, it appears in the Human Review tab. Reviewers can view and edit field values, see the original document context for each field, and approve individual fields as they go. It's a streamlined process designed to make review as efficient as possible.
After the review is complete, the extraction can be approved to move forward in your workflow or rejected if it's unsuitable. To help you manage your review process, you can also track review status (needs review, approved, rejected) using our API or the Extraction history tab or set up webhook notifications.
For example, in processing insurance claims, Human Review could flag any claim over $10,000 for manual verification. This ensures high-value claims are always double-checked before processing.

Getting Started
Human Review is available now in beta for all existing users at no additional cost. After the beta period, it will become an optional add-on, priced at $150 per month, for users on the Scale plan and above.
To start using Human Review, go to your document type settings, navigate to the new Human Review tab, and enable the feature to set your review criteria.
